About Briana Higgins

Briana Higgins is a 23-year-old artist in the metro-Atlanta area and Armstrong Atlantic State University alumni. I graduated in December 2009 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts. I focus mainly in illustration, but also can and do graphic design, painting, and website design related work. Currently, I am freelance, but looking for a full-time job, preferably in my local area. I'm currently free for both personal and commercial commission work. You can find links to my resume and commission information in the submenu above, so feel free to check those out if you are interested in me doing work for you!

Creativity-wise, I have always been into drawing, and also developed a love of reading and writing from a very early age. This all stems back to my love of stories in virtually any way, shape or form - and it should be no surprise that I am a huge fan of the Canadian company Bioware for their often compelling storytelling through the video game medium. Ever since I was a young child, I have worked on countless stories and illustrations. I love fiction, history, and cultural/social studies, all of which play a big part in my personal work. I focus the most on character design and creation in my own artistic endeavors, and greatly enjoy coming up with character concepts of many different backgrounds and settings. I also love drawing other people's character concepts, and am always eager to design or illustrate characters for others.

Personally, I have roughly ten years of experience with digital art and web design - most of it self-taught outside of some fine-tuning during graphic design classes in college. I grew up around computers and am very comfortable with their use. While I would hardly consider myself an expert, I know more than the average user and know enough to solve some common problems, recognize basic programming trends, and built my current desktop computer from scratch - with help from my father. Though I prefer and use Windows PCs, I know my way around a Mac fairly well.

Professionally, I am still trying to break into various industries. I designed the original website for Shriek Theatre, Inc and created Flash Tutorials for my university's Information Technology department during their Integrating Information Retrieval into Undergraduate Curricula project. I also interned in Summer 2008 at Cisco's Creative Media Services in their Metro-Atlanta offices. I have also had my online comic, Rune Master: Tales of a Demon Slayer displayed during the Monsters of Webcomics exhibit at the San Fransisco Cartoon Art Museum. Rune Master was also featured in the Lookin' At Comics column of the October 2008 issue of Knights of the Dinner Table.
